This is about passions. Hopefully, we all have at at least one. But it's also about remembering those who kept us safe for them.

I served in Marine Corps artillery, 105, and 155 mm Howitzers.
I had a lot of experience firing explosive rounds for many miles. But I thought I was done with it. I never thought I’d come upon any kind of cannon on our Long Beach shore. But recently, I did.
It was a strange contraption to be sure, but it evinced a passion in the man who manned it.

This post is about passions on our shore. But it’s also about sacrifices by troops who shed blood on other beaches for us. Beaches so distant from home, from America. Sacrifices that kept us safe so we can follow our own passions. Sacrifices that are so important to keep in mind in these very troubling times:
