Across Nassau County, towns are building berms, closing beaches, and urging residents to stay indoors and avoid driving through floodwaters while the exact severity of the storm remains uncertain.
   

• Governor Hochul Marks the Start of Climate Week NYC Announcing $80 Million in Grants for Flood Mitigation and Water Infrastructure Improvement Projects (blogspot.com) — Long Beach is set to receive $6.1 million in state funding to install porous pavement along Park Avenue, aiming to reduce flooding and improve water quality in Reynolds Channel. • Bags meant to stop erosion now decaying, sending plastic sheds into South Shore estuary (newsday.com) — Plastic erosion-control bags placed near Jones Beach are breaking apart, sending plastic fragments into the South Shore Estuary, which stretches from Long Beach to the Hamptons. Local environmental groups warn the deteriorating sandbags threaten marine life and have urged the state to quickly remove the debris and adopt a more sustainable erosion-control solution.
