We see them almost every day, these men and women who serve and protect but do we see them as…the living armor of us all?

Sure you get annoyed, even angry when you get a ticket. “Is that all he has to do?” you might ask yourself.
But you are only seeing the sunny side of police service, a sunny side that can even turn dark and deadly in a moment. Most of us never see the fierce-fought minutes, the adrenaline fueled seconds that make the difference between life and death that cops face.
It is basically true that police work is 99% boredom and 1% terror-filled seconds. Over the course of their working tours of duty, cops face the possibility of ambush, assassination, or just everyday generic violence in resistance to arrest or attacks in the commission of a crime.

Sometimes when a cop’s funeral gains national attention we all realize the danger they face, the consequences they suffer, in protecting us from those who would do us harm. But there are about 900,000 law enforcement officers in America who serve and die and their deaths go unnoticed, unsung.
