'Potentially Hazardous' Package Reported at Oceanside Post Office
Firefighters and police determined that the package was non hazardous after about an hour.
OCEANSIDE, NY - A package that was suspected to be hazardous was reported at the Oceanside Post Office on Wednesday morning, according to the Oceanside Fire Department.
The fire department received a call from the Nassau County Police at about 5:51 a.m. about a "potentially hazardous package" at the post office on 80 Atlantic Avenue.
Firefighters responded and stood by while the scene was secured and the package inspected.

Members from Nassau County Police Emergency Services Unit, Emergency Ambulance Bureau and The Nassau Country Fire Marshal's Hazardous Materials Unit all responded as well.
Fire marshals inspected and tested the package. After collecting a sample and running a test on the material, the fire department deemed non hazardous and all units were released by 7:08 a.m.
