Presence And The Silver Sea

Some of us are never alone, even if no one is with us. We have our back pocket to reach into.

Some of us might be alone this Thanksgiving, or almost alone. We can’t visit family like we are accustomed to. But we do have a default, right in our back pockets—if we are aware.

We Long Beach lovers are blessed with our boardwalk, our sands, our whole City by the Sea. And we do enjoy it all.

But maybe there’s a way to get more out of what we see.

Now, it might be because I’m a bit more senior than most of you that causes me to be more present. Each day, each stroll on the beach or boards, puts me in greater touch with all of life, from the shorebirds that soar our shore to you fellow simians who bike the boards and surf the sea.

But each trek makes me realize, I’m not just seeing, or feeling, or enjoying the scent of the poem of the sea—I am of the poem—and so are you.
