PSEG to Upgrade West End Infrastructure
The utility will make the power lines on the West End more storm-resilient, but will impact parking and traffic.

Starting this month, PSEG Long Island will be working to upgrade the electrical infrastructure in the West End of Long Beach, which will disrupt traffic and parking along the route.
The work will take place between West Beech Street and Oceanview Avenue on Wyoming Avenue, Virginia Avenue, Tennessee Avenue, Minnesota Avenue, and Maryland Avenue. It will begin this month and is expected to be completed in January.
PSEG will be taking down the high-voltage wires and transformers that run in the backyards of homes along the route and burying them underground by the street. Utility poles will still carry the lower-voltage (house voltage) secondary wire and Verizon and cable television facilities. The service wire connections between the pole line and the houses in the area will remain as well.

The utility will also replace 20 existing poles along Oceanview Avenue and four poles in customers' back yards.
The work will impact traffic on the blocks, especially when workers are burying lines near the road. Keep an eye out in the area for PSEG workers.
