In the Spring of Life...Death

To live is to be at risk. But must we be so risky?

We’ve had a recent tragic death on our Long Beach shore. Great response, as always from our local and not so local police, fire, water rescue and Coast Guard services.

But rescue was not to be…this time.

A young man, a very young man, was lost to the sea. It’s happened before on our Long Beach shore. And each time you see a swimmer in the water when a lifeguard is not present the risk is there again. Each time you see people climbing on the jetties, the risk is there again. Lifeguards warn, Beach Patrols warn, signs warn but still...the heedless continue. The needless risk is there.

Maybe a bit less adventure and more common sense is due. Maybe if we all set an example we needn’t have such tragic loss of life. My thoughts and photos:
