State Secures Millions Of Dollars For 2 L.I. Projects Promoting Safety
The construction efforts will take place in Valley Stream and on Lido Boulevard.
ALBANY, NY — Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that millions of dollars have been awarded to communities across the state to promote an environmentally friendly mode of travel, making it easier and safer to walk, bike or hike.
The two projects for Long Island are:
- $5,000,000 to Nassau County to construct sidewalks and traffic calming improvements to the Lido Boulevard corridor.
- $1,774,714 to the Village of Valley Stream to construct approximately a multi-use path to link to existing paths to the Long Island Rail Road.
"We're investing in strategic initiatives across the state to improve quality of life, promote economic growth, and revitalize our communities," Hochul said in a statement.

The funding, which provides up to 80 percent of total project costs, is made available through the Federal Highway Administration and administered by the New York State Department of Transportation.
