Twin Peaks

As the sun set on yet another summer at Long Beach, NY I came upon a pair of young ladies whose sun is only beginning to rise.

You’ve seen them as you stroll, bike, or jog along our beach and boardwalk, the artists who set up easels to capture on canvas what we take in daily: the surf, the sand, the sky, the diving and twisting birds, especially the crashing waves upon our iconic jetties.

I came upon a pair of artists who took a different perspective, a view of our Long Beach renovation as it parallels their own career renewal. When I spotted the artist applying her skill, her heart, to canvas I thought, in my haste, that she was…facing the wrong way.

But after some revealing exchanges, I discovered a wisdom much too deep for such young lives. I realized then that I had before me, on Long Beach shore, a pair of twins who were… artists ascending:
