Two Nassau County Businesses Robbed at Gunpoint

The robberies occurred about an hour apart Thursday night at a deli and a Chinese restaurant, police say.

Two businesses were robbed at gunpoint a little more than an hour apart in Nassau County on Thursday night and police are investigating to determine if the robberies are related.

The first robbery occurred at about 9:19 p.m. at a Baldwin deli as it was closing, Nassau Police said.

Four employees were closing United Deli at 590 West Seaman Avenue when they were forced back inside by two men, police said.

One robber was armed with a black handgun and demanded a 23-year-old employee open the register, police said.

The man complied and placed an undisclosed amount of cash and a Dell laptop into the robber's backpack, police said.

The robbers then fled southbound on Pine Street, police said. No injuries were reported.

Both robbers were described as men in their mid-20s. One robber was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, mask and gloves. The other robber was wearing pink striped pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt, mask and gloves. He was also carrying a blue backpack.

The second robbery occurred at a Chinese restaurant in Lakeview.

Two men were working at Lees Garden Takeout on 1015 Woodfield Road when two men with their faces covered entered the restaurant at about 10:30 p.m.

One man armed with a silver handgun climbed over the counter and demanded cash, police said.

The 36-year-old employee opened the register and one of the robbers stole an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

The two men then fled southbound on Woodfield Road in a black Honda Civic. No injuries were reported.

The first robber is described as 5-foot-7, with a thin build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and black sneakers.

The second robber is described as 5-foot-10 wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
