WATCH: Town Of Hempstead To Hold Annual 9/11 Memorial Sunday Morning
It's held at Point Lookout, a "sacred spot" for many since 9/11, Supervisor Don Clavin said.

POINT LOOKOUT, NY — Hundreds of people are expected to gather on Sunday morning for the annual 9-11 Sunrise Memorial at Point Lookout.
It became a gathering point as the Twin Towers were up in smoke and then collapsed.
"What's taken place is, it's almost a sacred spot for them," Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin said on "Patch AM" Friday. "We've been having the ceremony on the beach for 20 years now."

It takes place at 7:30 a.m. at the town park.
Clavin said those who come back to the location remember that tragic day while seeing many of the same people each year.
