When Cups Overflow

We've gathered, we hominids, in caves and on plains, around fires and feasts, to rip, to gnaw, to grunt. We still gather…

...maybe with a little less grunting and gnawing.

Now we gather around Cafe Wi Fires, to sip, to chat. We exchange ideas, with those across the table and those across the sea.

Coffee shops are ubiquitous in most cities and towns. But there was a time when they were not so established, and we were poorer for it.

Today we have small personal cafes as well as huge chains of coffee houses. Both serve their purpose of serving the “new elixirs” of the seventeenth century.

They've become game houses, these coffee shops, and staff meeting centers, interview rooms, and study halls. But mostly they are respites from the weary walls of home or office. A change of pace, a chance to meet and share an idea, or a story.
