Take a peek at this Long Beach nanny through this window with me.

On my way back to Long Beach this week I stopped at the Greek Palace on Sunrise Highway in Merrick.

As I awaited a wonderful chicken souvlaki sandwich I saw a woman deftly decorating the front window. I noticed, in addition to her paintbrush, she held a slight smile while she worked.

I inquired within.

Her name is Diane and she evinces spirit and determination as she speaks. She knows herself, knows what doesn't work for her but more importantly…knows what does work.

She was married thirty years but it ended a year and a half ago.

She didn’t fall into a pit of anguish and despair. Into a spiral of substances that temporarily numb but actually deepens pain. She reached into her heart and did what comes naturally to her.
