An Armor Parade at Eisenhower Park, Military Choppers and more
Memorial Day Weekend Saturday

As Long Island and the nation observes the 80th anniversary of the end of WW II, on Saturday, May 24th, Eisenhower Park, East Meadow, will be the scene of multiple tribute programs and memorial ceremonies honoring our veterans under the auspices of the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums and the Administration of Nassau County Executive Bruce A. Blakeman.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. Navy and Marine helicopters participating in Fleet Week will descend adjacent to the park’s Parking Field 2 where visitors will be able to inspect the choppers up close and speak to their crews before their departure at 2 p.m.
Between 9 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. a contingent of U.S. Marines from the USMC Recruiting Station will be in Parking Field 3 participating in the Dan Daly Cup Challenge showcasing physical agility and strength, named after one of only two Marines ever to win the Medal of Honor twice.

This marks the first time operational military vehicles from The Armor Museum will be on display at Eisenhower Park and appear at the request of County Executive Blakeman who has sought to honor those who defeated Nazi Germany some 80 years ago this month. Additional ceremonies are planned for September to mark the surrender of Imperial Japan and victory in the Pacific.
