Join us for a multimedia presentation on early cinema from the 1880s through the 1930s, explained through the films and technologies that came from it. Presenter Jack Murphy will examine early technologies such as the Vitaphone sound-on-disc system and Movietone newsreels, and discuss how films like The Jazz Singer influenced cinematic storytelling and professional acting styles during the industry's transition to sound.
Jack Murphy is a Great Neck resident and a new generation New York World’s Fair enthusiast and collector.
