D'Arrigo Brothers Funds Donation of Service Dogs to Long Island Veterans
D'Arrigo Brothers presents $15,000 Check to Paws of War to underwrite the cost of providing service dogs to assist local veterans
Gabriela D’Arrigo of D’Arrigo Brothers New York (2nd from left) and Dori Scofield (far right), founder of Paws of War, presented three Long Island Veterans who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with service dogs in a ceremony held at the Armor Museum in Old Bethpage.
Pictured left to right are: Brian Pacella of Holbrook with his dog Susie, Gus Pappas of East Meadow and his dog Nico, and Rob Carrozzo of West Babylon and his dog Lucy.
Pacella served in the Military Police in Iraq. Pappas, a Naval Corpsman, served in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart and retired from the FDNY as a Two-Star Chief. Carrozzo, a U.S. Navy Petty Officer, was deployed to Iraq three times.

D’Arrigo Brothers of New York, one of the nation’s largest distributors of fresh fruits and vegetables, made a $15,000 contribution, which underwrote the training of three service dogs that Port Jefferson-based Paws of War presented to three U.S. combat military veterans who served on the frontlines and now suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
