General Needs Talks About Homeless Veterans on L.I.

Susan and Lonnie Sherman, co-founders of General Needs, a Northport, NY-based nonprofit dedicated to serving homeless and at-risk veterans, were guests of Island Outlook, a public affairs radio program presented by Connoisseur Media LI and hosted by John Lynch. The Shermans discussed how they created General Needs after volunteering at a shelter for homeless veterans and how the organization has grown and evolved since its founding in 2008. Since its inception, General Needs has provided 10,224 boots, 9,029 coats, 55,555 pairs of socks and 3,300 pillows to men and women who served in the United States armed forces but now find themselves in tough times, and often homeless.
