HIA-LI Receives Grant From National Grid

Will Establish a Program to Attract Businesses to Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge

HAUPPAUGE, NY – AUGUST 15, 2019: HIA-LI, widely recognized as one of Long Island’s foremost advocates for regional business growth, has received a grant from National Grid to support marketing initiatives aimed at attracting out-of-town businesses to the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge, formerly known as the Hauppauge Industrial Park.

The grant comes from the energy provider’s Cooperative Business Recruitment Program, which provides matching funds for marketing initiatives between the company and regional and local economic development partners.

National Grid, an electricity, natural gas, and energy delivery company – with networks in New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island – provides natural gas to its Long Island service territory.

Second in size as an industrial park only to Silicon Valley in California, the 1,400-acre Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge represents a workforce of 55,000 people and delivers $13 billion in annual output for the regional economy.

The business attraction program will tap a multitude of marketing platforms to promote the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge’s competitive advantages as a business location. Geographic targets include audiences in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut, and the Lower Hudson Valley.

Advertising will be placed on several cable television channels, as well as one of New York City’s top-rated news radio stations. HIA-LI will also undertake public relations outreach to secure “earned media” placements in the region’s leading business publications. In addition, the marketing initiative will include a “blast” email deployment to more than 60,000 CEOs and other business decision makers in the New York metropolitan area.

The program will also support development of a central, stand-alone “landing page” on the HIA-LI website. Each of the campaign’s marketing components would direct interested parties to this page.

“We are pleased to support the HIA-LI’s marketing efforts to attract out-of-town businesses to this center of innovation,” said Keith Rooney, National Grid’s Director of Customer and Community Management. “Long Island is a great spot to live, work, and play and the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge is a premier spot for businesses to succeed.”

“As America’s second-largest business complex, the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge offers compelling advantages as a corporate location,” said Terri Alessi-Miceli, president and CEO of HIA-LI.” We’re extremely grateful to National Grid for lending their support to a marketing initiative that is certain to draw new businesses to the park.”

“The Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge offers all the ingredients for business success,” added Joe Campolo, managing partner of Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP and chairman of the HIA-LI board of directors. “Thanks to the valuable financial assistance of National Grid, we’ll soon be launching an aggressive outreach campaign to broaden our tenant roster.”
