Long Island Priest Returns Home To Find Man Doing Laundry Inside

Just another Monday on Long Island.

NESCONSET, NY – A 37-year-old man is accused of trespassing into a priest's home Monday to apparently do his laundry, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, a priest from the Parish of the Holy Cross in Nesconset arrived home at about 8:15 p.m. to his residence located at 85 Old Nichols Road, which is adjacent to the church, and observed a man in his house doing laundry.

The man, later identified as Philip Magalhaes, fled on foot when he saw the priest, police said. Magalhaes left his wallet and personal items inside the home, police said.

Suffolk Police canine and aviation sections responded to the scene. Canine officers located Magalhaes a short time later. Magalhaes was arrested and charged with criminal trespass as well as two active warrants.
