Long Islander’s Support Charity “One Punch at a Time"
Long Island Fight for Charity celebrates 15th event
Melville, NY; December 20, 2018 – Long Island Fight for Charity, the nation’s only all-volunteer charity boxing event held its 15th Main Event at the Hilton Long Island in Melville in front of a record-breaking crowd in excess of 1,000 fans and raising over $125,000 for those in need on Long Island.
“Our 15th Main Event was one for the record books,” said Long Island Fight for Charity Co-Founder Matt Silver.
“This event brings together the best of Long Island. We had a fight card with 12 indelible bouts featuring local volunteer boxers who put their bodies on the line for charities. Eight of our boxers were women, who put on an amazing show. Our guest’s sampled food from top restaurants from across the region,” added Co-Founder Jamie Austin.

The Fight Card featured a red and a blue team made up of 24 boxers. Highlights of the event included: Steven “Tank” East, a two-time Alumni Charity Boxer, vs. Chris “The Undertaker” Tombline, a five-time returning boxer; competitors in the ring and in business: Tara “Killer-Watt” Bono, of EmPower Solar vs. Tara “The Hit Girl” DelBianco, of SUNation; and, in keeping with the “Year of the Woman,” the final bout of the evening saw Alyssa “The Annihilator” Kirschbaum exchange punches with Sarah “Big Mama” Walters. Alyssa fought on behalf of her brother who attended the Genesis School, one of the nonprofit organizations supported by Fight for Charity.
Proceeds from the Long Island Fight for Charity fundraiser will be donated to the Long Island Community Chest, The Genesis School, the National Foundation for Human Potential and other local charities. This nonprofit organization has already donated over $1.2 million to Long Island charities since its founding in 2003.

Local businesses and professional firms sponsoring this year’s 15th Main Event include: EmPower Solar; Barnes, Iaccarino & Shepherd, LLP; Alure Home Improvements; Grassi & Co.; Forchelli Deegan Terrana; Lessing’s; Tim White Home Improvements; CORE BTS; Merritt Environmental Consulting Corp.; Riverhead Building Supply; Law Office of Cohen & Jaffe; PinkTie; Prudential, and Hunter Roberts Construction Group.
“Our volunteer boxers had the opportunity to do something only a few Long Islanders have experienced, train and box in front of a crowd of over 1,000 attendees. Each spent the past six months sacrificing their time, energy and bodies while raising funds. They come away with memories, experiences and friendships that will last a life time,” said Co-Founder Jeff Cohen.

- Chris “The Undertaker” Tombline from Commack, the executive manager at Gutterman’s Funeral Home in Rockville Centre vs. Steven “Tank” East from Forest Hills, the CEO/ President of Caring People Inc. Home Healthcare in Hempstead and Forest Hills
- Jane “The Real (Estate) Deal” Chen from Bayside, Queens, an Associate Attorney at Forchelli Deegan Terrana, LLP in Uniondale vs. Genine “The Knock Out” Traina from Deer Park, a Board Member at Equity First in Mount Sinai
