N.Y. State Senate Legacy Award Presented to 100 Black Men of Eastern N.Y. for Leadership and Community Impact

The 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. has received a New York State Senate Legacy Award presented by Monica R. Martinez, recognizing the organization’s continued commitment to mentorship, leadership development, and community empowerment throughout Long Island.
LONG ISLAND, NY — The 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. has received a New York State Senate Legacy Award presented by Monica R. Martinez, recognizing the organization’s continued commitment to mentorship, leadership development, and community empowerment throughout Long Island.
Senator Martinez represents New York’s 4th Senate District in Suffolk County, which includes communities such as Bay Shore, Brentwood, Central Islip, Deer Park, Islandia, North Babylon, West Babylon, and Wyandanch. The recognition highlights the organization’s impact in advancing opportunities for youth and strengthening communities through mentorship and civic engagement.

The 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc. is an affiliate chapter of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., one of the nation’s most respected volunteer mentoring organizations. Founded in 1963 in New York City, the national organization operates more than 100 chapters and focuses on four core pillars: Mentoring, Education, Health and Wellness, and Economic Empowerment.

The Eastern New York chapter has carried out that mission locally by mentoring young people, promoting leadership development, supporting entrepreneurship, and building partnerships that strengthen the economic and social fabric of communities across Long Island.
“This recognition from the New York State Senate affirms the work our members and partners have dedicated themselves to in strengthening communities through mentorship and leadership,” said Phil Andrews, President of the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York, Inc.

When young people see leadership, integrity, and success, they are inspired to achieve it themselves.”
Rose Ward, Secretary of the organization, also reflected on the significance of the recognition.
“This Legacy Award represents the collective dedication of our members who give their time and expertise to guide the next generation,” Ward said. “Mentoring and leadership development are essential tools for building stronger communities and ensuring young people have the opportunities they deserve.”
Advancing the National Mission Locally
As an affiliate of 100 Black Men of America, the 100 Black Men of Eastern New York continues to expand its programs and initiatives that support youth mentorship, academicachievement, workforce readiness, and economic empowerment.
Through partnerships with schools, civic organizations, and community leaders, the organization has helped prepare young men and women for college, careers, and leadership roles within their communities.
