From War Hero to World Traveler: West Babylon Resident Turns 100

WEST BABYLON, NY – When Daniel “Danny” Zamier asked the woman he loved how he could convince her to stay in Israel instead of returning home to America, her answer was simple: “Marry me.”

That moment set the course for Danny’s extraordinary life—a life that family, friends, and fellow residents at The Bristal Assisted Living at West Babylon recently gathered to celebrate as he turned 100 years old.

Born in 1925, Danny served in underground forces during the formation of the Israeli Army after World War II, leading 20 soldiers at a critical time in history. After marrying his American sweetheart, Vivien, he immigrated to the United States, where they shared 54 years of marriage, raised two children, and eventually welcomed five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A successful electrical engineer and avid world traveler, Danny built a vibrant life in America filled with love and adventure. Even after losing Vivien, he found love again with Ray, a woman introduced to him by his daughter, with whom he still speaks every night despite living in different states.

“My life was so full. I had a big life,” Danny said, reflecting on his century of memories during his milestone celebration, which included music, cake, and a special book written by his grandson chronicling his journey.
