What Everyone Should Know About The Epstein Files

The Epstein Files are documents collected during trials for Jeffery Epstein from his 2008 conviction of soliciting prostitution from a minor, and his 2019 arrest for running a network of underage girls for sex. He died in his cell, awaiting his second trial, his death ruled a suicide, with almost 3 minutes missing from the surveillance video of his cell.

At his 2008 trial, Jeffrey Epstein plead guilty for molesting a 14-year-old girl in his Palm Beach home. A search of the home revealed photos of other under-age girls, but his plea deal included no jail time and he was registered as a sex offender.

These two criminal investigations collected large amounts of documents, including transcripts of interviews with victims and witnesses, and flight logs of Epstein’s associates to and from his many properties, one of which being his private island. He sometimes referred to this log as his “little black book.” “The federal government has a truck-load of documents regarding Epstein,” US Attorney General, Pam Bondi, previously stated. She also told a reporter asking about the list: “It’s sitting on my desk right now.” Bondi informed Trump in May, that his name was in the files. She has since made contradictory comments, even claiming recently that the files do not exist.

Some of the Epstein material was made public in February 2025. The DOJ under the Trump admin stated that they were in the first phase of releasing the declassified Epstein files. They then released material that had already been made public. In July 2025, the DOJ sent out a memo that no other material would be released.

The Wall Street Journal has stated that Trump is named in the files, and that he was told this in May, by AG Bondi. The White House has been in survival mode the past few weeks. With Spokesman, Steven Chung, calling the story fake, but also not denying that Trump’s name appeared in the files. Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, also adjourned congress early this session, sending everyone home until September to avoid voting on the release of the files.

Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were friends from 1990-2009, as visible from the many online pictures, with recently released photos showing Jeffrey Epstein attending Trump’s second wedding to Marla Maples. When campaigning in 2024, Trump stated that he would release the files, but he now says that the case is closed.

A separate investigation into Epstein’s co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted her in 2021 for trafficking under-age girls for sex at Epstein’s Manhattan Mansion, Palm Beach Estate, New Mexico Ranch, Paris apartment, and his private island in Little St. James, Virgin Islands. At this infamous island, girls, one as young as 12, were held against their will and forced to perform sex acts on Epstein and his guests. The couple was each also subject to civil cases, where in one, Maxwell was labeled by prosecutors as a person who would perjury themselves and could not be trusted. Maxwell, 63, is currently serving a 20 year sentence for trafficking under-age girls. She was accused by 4 of her victims, now adults, at her trial in 2019, of luring, grooming and abusing them for sex with Epstein and his associates. She recruited girls as young as 14, taking them on expensive shopping trips, and paying for their travel. Democrats warn that Maxwell is not to be trusted. “We should understand that this is a very complex witness and someone who has caused great harm and not a good person to a lot of people,” Rep Robert Garcia, top dem on the oversight committee told reporters last week in regard to Maxwell being questioned in 2 private meetings with the DOJ. The meetings were led by Deputy Attorney General, Todd Blanche, a former Trump defense lawyer. “I’ve never heard of a deputy attorney general doing anything like this before,” a former senior justice department official stated. Jack Scarola, a lawyer for over 20 of Epstein’s and Maxwell’s victims, asked to attend the meetings, but was not included. Mimi Rocah, a former federal prosecutor in NY, said that she believes that Maureen Comey’s, who was a lead prosecutor in the Maxwell case, and FBI Director, James Comey’s daughter, recent firing was done to give Trump appointees complete control of the Maxwell case. Rocah also stated that “not including a prosecutor with deep knowledge of Maxwell’s crimes at these meetings, was unfair to Epstein’s victims.”

When Trump was asked if he plans to pardon Maxwell, a woman accused of trafficking and sexually abusing multiple under-age girls from 1994-2004, Trump replied: “You should focus on Clinton. You should focus on the president of Harvard, the former president of Harvard. You should focus on some of the hedge fund guys. I’ll give you a list. These guys lived with Jeffrey Epstein. I sure as hell didn’t.” In response to pardoning her: “It’s something I haven’t thought about. I’m allowed to do it.”
