You Tube Pays Off for Long Island Teen

As I sat down to talk with 14 year old Dakota Carney I was immediately impressed with her lack of shyness. She's a normal teenage girl on Long Island. Up every day early for school, dealing with friends, parents, taking care of her sugar gliders, bearded dragon, pit bulls and sharing her life on You Tube. Yes...sharing her life. "At first it was scary", Dakota says, "But once your accepted and gain subscribers it's really just fun."

Armed with a video camera she received for her birthday she began her journey in to the wonderful world of You Tubers. Dakota's You Tube page boasts over 4000 subscribers. People from all over the world follow the adventures of Dakota as she vlogs about "Dumb reasons I've been broken up with", "Visiting Philadelphia with her parents and little brother", the "Solar Eclipse" and a variety of other episodes. Her "Bringing my Sugar Glider to School Episode" has brought over 240,000 views.

This normal teenager is certainly taking You Tube by storm. "Oh there are the haters", Dakota says, "But I've learned to just keep creating and let the haters hate." Her parents keep a close eye on her page insuring that things do not get out of hand. To date all is calm and without issue. She does well in school and looks towards a possible career in Law Enforcement. Either that or marry a rich You Tuber and settle down and create together.

I've watched some of Dakota's videos and I must admit she definitely has a talent for the You Tube. Some people go to school and pay thousands to learn to create the buzz that this young woman has created by just pressing the record button.
