Zorn's of Bethpage Rappels 170 Ft Down for People in Need
Merrill Zorn & her Zorn's of Bethpage Team raise funds for LI families, youth & senior citizens in need by repelling 170 feet off building.
Bethpage, NY; December 14, 2018 –Merrill Zorn, President of Zorn's of Bethpage, who regularly spends her time leading her team as it serves Long Island families food at her iconic family-owned Long Island favorite take-out and catering destination of 80 years, recently took a short break from the construction of the new Zorn's of Bethpage to join her team - Bill Jensen and Zorn's of Bethpage's Turkey Mascot "Skeeter" - to raise funds for struggling Long Island families, youth and senior citizens in an unconventional way. She and her team courageously rappelled 170 feet down the side of Nassau Community College's 13-story Tower as participated in the tallest, most exciting fundraiser and community event to hit Nassau County during EAC Network's Over The Edge event, which included up to 92 other "Edgers."
"There is so much emotion involved with Over the Edge," explains Ms. Zorn, who has participated in EAC Network's Over The Edge before. "It's scary, thrilling and adrenalizing all at the same time but the biggest rush for me and my team is knowing that we are making a difference for people who are struggling and are in need of our support. Knowing this makes rappelling 170 feet down a building all well worth it and is why I am so proud to have once again participated n EAC Network's Over the Edge event."
To secure a rappel spot as an "Edger" people have to raise over $1,000. Ms. Zorn and her team raised over $1,600. This year EAC Network's Over The Edge event generated dozens of people who participated and raised thousands of dollars. All proceeds benefit EAC Network's programs that empower, assist, and care for children who have been abused or are in foster care, at-risk families struggling with basic needs, individuals battling addiction or mental illness, and seniors needing supportive services like Meals on Wheels, among many other programs.
EAC Network is a diverse social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 82,000 people in need across Long Island and New York City. We aim to reach individuals and families who are struggling with basic needs; in fact, the majority of those we serve live at or below the poverty line. It offers a wide range of over 70 innovative programs that fall under five main categories: Children & Youth, Family & Community, Behavioral Health & Criminal Justice, Seniors & the Incapacitated, and Vocational Services. These programs serve people of all ages from all walks of life, from vulnerable children who have been abused to homebound seniors needing home-delivered meals.
