#93 - Play Ball At These Local Sandlots

Malverne and West Hempstead both have great public parks and playgrounds.

Despite the fact that the winter weather is reluctant to go away - (Yes, we are expected to get some more flurries this Wednesday) - it's officially Spring and soon residents can hear the familiar sounds of the season.

That is, birds chirping, the chuch-chuch-chuch of lawn sprinklers and the crack of a baseball bat. Yes, what would spring be without America's favorite past-time returning after its winter hiatus?

The local Little League teams will be starting up in early April, but don't let the kids have all the fun. Grab your mitt, a bat and ball, and some friends for a casual catch or recreational game on the next sunny day.

Head over to or Fields in Malverne, or the ball fields at and in West Hempstead to relive your sandlot days or pass along your baseball (and softball) skills to your kids. Plus, there's also the fields at our local schools, provided a team with a permit isn't utilizing the space.

Who's in for a pick-up game this weekend?
