Brooklyn Teen Arrested For Robbing Nassau Delivery Drivers: NCPD

Police say the teen and an accomplice stole the drivers' cars last year, even hitting one of them with her own car as they fled.

Nassau County police have arrested a second Brooklyn teen and charged them with a series of robberies last summer that targeted delivery drivers.

Police arrested Ayan James, 18, of East 88th Street, Brooklyn, in connection with two robberies.

On Aug. 19, 2018 in West Hempstead, police say James and an accomplice, a 16-year-old boy from Brooklyn, called for Chinese food to be delivered to Laurel Drive. When the 33-year-old man delivering the food arrived, police say he was pulled from his car by James and his accomplice. The two then got into the man's car and fled the scene, police say. The delivery driver suffered cuts to his knees and elbows.

On Aug. 20, 2018 in Valley Stream, police say James and his accomplice called for Chinese food to be delivered to Arkansas Drive. When the 42-year-old woman arrived with the food, police say she was assaulted by James, the teen and one other. They stole her keys, wallet and cash, and then two of the assailants got into the car to flee, police say. While leaving, police say the two hit the delivery driver with her car. She suffered multiple cuts and swelling, and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

James is charged with five counts of second-degree robbery, two counts of third-degree robbery, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree assault. He was arraigned on Tuesday in Nassau County Court in Mineola.
