Cops: West Hempstead Man Drove Drunk with Flat Tires
Man pulled over on Northern State Parkway thought he was on the Southern State, police said.

A West Hempstead man faces charges after he was caught driving drunk on the Northern State Parkway early Sunday, according to New York State Police.
Troopers were dispatched to the eastbound Northern State near Route 110 at 3:30 a.m. after a 911 caller reported an erratic car driving on flat tires, cops said. Officers found the car stopped in the right lane east of Exit 40, police said.

Bishop said he thought he was on the Southern State Parkway heading home, cops said.

While responding officers questioned the driver, Ryan Bishop, 21, they said they detected the smell of alcohol. Bishop failed sobriety tests and was charged at the scene with driving while intoxicated as well as other traffic violations.
