Crime Report: Woman Murdered, Fire Siren Cable Cut

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests

  • On April 29 at 1 p.m., Kenneth Taylor, 30, of Lindenhurst, N.Y., was arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and operating an unregistered, un-inspected and uninsured motor vehicle.
  • On May 1 at 1:50 a.m., Robert Tatum, 37, of Deer Park, N.Y., was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second degree.
  • On May 1, Dung Tran, 38, of Hempstead, N.Y, was in the second degree, which occurred at 266 Merrick Road in Lynbrook.
  • On May 4 at 6 a.m., Cesar Caycho, 36, of Elmont, N.Y., was arrested on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree.
  • On May 4 at 11:18 a.m., Alain Lavoie, 49, of Commack, N.Y., was arrested on Carpenter Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with Assault in the second degree on a Police Officer, Obstructing Governmental Administration, Harassment in the second degree, and several Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
  • On May 4 at 8:04 p.m., Cheryl Serapica, 27, and Matthew Serapica, 22, both of Lynbrook, N.Y., were arrested and charged with Assault in the third degree, which occurred on Broadway in Lynbrook.
  • On May 4 at 11:18 p.m., Karen Bick, 26, of Rockville Centre, N.Y., was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. She is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second degree and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • On May 5 at 11:15 p.m., Geovanny Ospina, 32, of Maryland, was arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the second degree.

  • Between the hours of 9 a.m. on April 6 and 9 a.m. on April 26, a tool set — valued at $60 — was reportedly stolen from a 2006 Ford cargo van, parked on Merrick Road. The vehicle itself had a reported $500 in damage.
  • On April 29, it was discovered that the wires to a Lynbrook Fire Department siren on Endview Avenue and Putnam Avenue had been cut, causing $300 in damage and disabling the siren.
