DNA Leads Nassau Detectives To Robber: Police

Nassau police arrested a Franklin Square man and charged him with robbing a store in his home town back in April.

According to police, Peter Weziewicz, 34, of Carl Avenue, entered The Smoke Shop, located at 774 Hempstead Turnpike, on April 6, approached the clerk and demanded money. The clerk, however, didn't give him anything. Police say Weziewicz grabbed two cartons of cigarettes and fled.

Police say that DNA evidence that Weziewicz left at the scene led to his identification and arrest on Tuesday.

Weziewicz is charged with first-degree robbery. He is scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
