Lynbrook Girls Volleyball Finishes Regular Season at 15-1

The girls lost their first game to Hewlett last week, but finished strong against Greak Neck South.

They didn't finish perfect, but they were pretty darn close.

The Lynbrook girls volleyball team wrapped up its season Wednesday with a win over Greak Neck South, 3-1, finishing the regular season in first place at 15-1.

The girls fell to Hewlett on Oct. 21 in their only loss of the season, but rebounded with wins over New Hyde Park on Oct. 24 and Great Neck South.

"Losing that one game humbled us a little and took the pressure of 'having' to win off," coach Vanessa Jeremenko said. "The loss almost made them a stronger team unit and showed them that they need to play hard in every game and for every point, because it really can be anyone's game."

The girls bet Great Neck South Wednesday in four games on senior day, 25-22, 19-25, 25-13 and 25-21. Kasey Keller had 10 kills, 10 blocks and three digs, Nicolette Franco had eight service aces (which Jeremenko said "really helped us to win the games") five digs and nine kills, while Caitlin Christy had five aces, eight digs and 18 set assists.

"The girls played great defense tonight against a very strong middle hitter from Great Neck," Jeremenko said. "Between the defense and our strong middle hitters blocking we did an excellent job."

Next up is playoffs. Jeremenko said the team is focused and determined, and won't take any opponent lightly.

"I think that we are really going to have to bring out "A" game and play to our full potential," she said.
