Lynbrook High School Named a Scholar-Athlete School Of Distinction

The honor comes from the hard work of the school's athletes in the classroom.

The New York State Public High School Athletics Association has named Lynbrook High School a 2016-17 Scholar-Athlete School of Distinction.

The school earned this distinction by having 100 percent of its varsity teams qualify for the scholar-athlete team award during their respective seasons. To achieve scholar-athlete status, 75 percent of a team’s roster must maintain a grade point average of 90 or above. Only 66 schools around the state earned this honor.

Lynbrook High School has 24 varsity teams, which all contributed to achieving this honor. Fall teams are girls cross-country, boys cross-country, girls soccer, girls swimming, girls tennis and girls volleyball. Winter teams are boys basketball, girls basketball, boys bowling, girls bowling, boys indoor track, girls indoor track, boys swimming and wrestling. Spring teams are girls badminton, baseball, boys golf, girls golf, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, softball, boys tennis, boys track and girls track.
