Lynbrook Schools Putting Forward Revised Bond Proposal

The bond would make big improvements to the high school and both middle schools.

At the June 14 meeting of the Lynbrook Board of Education, trustees approved a resolution to move forward with a bond proposal that will be put before voters on Tuesday, Oct. 3.

After voters rejected a previous bond proposal March 2106, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Melissa Burak presented a revised bond proposal to the board at its Jan. 11 meeting. The new proposal reduced the size of the bond by approximately $15 million in response to community feedback, maintaining elements that were deemed most important by the community.

The proposal provides for additions and improvements at the high school, including modernized science facilities, an upgraded STEM classroom, dedicated classrooms for chorus, band and orchestra, a new classroom for the Career Development Program, a school store used as a working laboratory to provide business experience for students, an innovation classroom and auditorium renovations.
