PHOTOS: Zumba Comes to Malverne Bible Church

The music was pumping, the dancers were shaking and the energy was high inside the basement of the Wednesday. It looked like a party was going on, but it was actually just a workout session.

Dozens of local ladies and some guys too, packed the basement of the church for a free Zumba class on Jan. 25. The Basement Zumba's instructors - Gloria DeLorenzo, Michelle Barrios, Frankie De Lorenzo, Jen Barrios and Suzanne Kraemer-Parra, president of the Maverne Civic Association and a newly certified instructor -kept the crowd grooving and their heart rates up.

The team will be holding classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 p.m., Tuesdays from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and Saturdays from 10-11 a.m. Classes are $10 per person per class or $125 for 20 classes. Email Zumbagloria@gmail.com for more information.
