Playoffs: Lynbrook Tops North Shore in First Round

Weingarten, Norris lead Owls to first playoff victory since 2006.

On Saturday, 13-seed Lynbrook (12-8) topped 12-seed North Shore (7-11) on the road in extra innings, 4-0.

Pitcher Alex Weingarten picked up his team-high fifth win of the year, coming in on 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. Starter Will Norris pitched 5.2 scoreless innings for the Owls.

The Owls and Vikings battled through eight scoreless innings in a game that didn't feature many hits for either side. In the top of the ninth inning, the Owls finally broke through with the first run of the game.

Andrew Marks has been one of the top hitters for Lynbrook all season and he came through once again. Marks hit a single to score Michael Millilo to make the score 1-0, followed up with three more Lynbrook runs in the inning off of North Shore pitcher Pat Lynn.
