Man Busted for DWI in Lake Success Had 4 Children in Minivan: Police

The children were between the ages of 4 and 10, police say.

A Franklin Square man faces felony DWI charges after police say he drove drunk with four children in his minivan Monday morning.

According to authorities, Michael A. Brown, 31, exited a 2012 black Chrysler Minivan near Lakeville Road and South Service Road and approached an officer at 1:14 a.m.

The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol on Brown’s breath and upon further investigation, determined the man was under the influence of alcohol, police say.

The officer then discovered Brown had two girls, ages 10 and 4, and two boys, ages 9 and 10, in the vehicle while he was driving under the influence, police say.

The children were released to Brown’s girlfriend, who was the front seat passenger in the vehicle.

It was also discovered Brown had a clear plastic bag containing what was believed to be marijuana in the front pocket of his pants, police say.

Brown was charged with four counts of aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law), DWI 11.92 and 1192.3 and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
