Assistant Superintendent for Finance, Operations and Information Systems Paul Lynch reviewed bond projections and discussed the breakdown. The strategic planning subcommittee on facilities has developed a potential plan that includes a 35,000-square-foot extension at the high school, which would provide additional classrooms while also freeing up current space to create more useful instructional and storage areas.
The plan also involves new high school labs, air conditioning in the elementary school gymnasiums, boiler upgrades at each middle school, elevators at Marion Street and Waverly Park Schools, window replacements at the Kindergarten Center and brick pointing at West End School. The estimated grand total cost of the project is approximately $50.1 million, though options and alternatives are still being explored.

Dr. Burak discussed the Smart Schools Bond proposals, a state initiative that enables school districts to receive bonds for certain technology projects. For Lynbrook, this may provide opportunities to upgrade security measures. The District is awaiting information from the state regarding the application process.
