1 Killed in N. Massapequa House Fire, Cop Car Responding to Scene Involved in Serious Crash
A pedestrian was critically injured in a chain-reaction crash involving a police car that was responding to the fire, police say.

A pedestrian was seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash involving a cop car that was responding to a fatal fire in North Massapequa Thursday morning, according to Nassau Police.
The police car was traveling northbound on Broadway responding to a house fire on North Suffolk Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. when it crashed with a Toyota Camry, driven by a 63-year-old woman heading eastbound on New York Avenue, police said.
The Camry then jumped the curb hitting a male pedestrian and then continued into a hair salon on the corner of Broadway and New York Avenue.

The pedestrian was also transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition, police said.
Two Seventh Precinct Officers and the Camry driver were also transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Multiple fire departments responded to the scene of the fire and one person inside the home was killed, Newsday reported.
The cop car had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash and had the right of way at the intersection, Nassau Police said.
