A State of The Art Debut

Massapequa's Grand Cannons cut their teeth in brand new recording studio.

A Massapequa band is cutting their first record in a brand new recording studio that recently opened.

"I was in some local bar in Massapequa and these guys just knocked me out," said Roger Romaine of The Grand Cannons, a quartet of young folkie-garage punkers on a mission to make unique, fresh roots rock .

Romaine knows talent. He's a guitarist with the punk band MFU (Martians From Uranus).  His band mate Scott Macintosh owns the brand new Bellmore recording studio NOE 1, where The Cannons are recording.

NOE 1 provides a 64-track recording studio with drum room, vocal room and full mixing room. The Grand Cannons provided energy and enthusiasm.

"They came in here fully rehearsed and ready to go," said Romaine. "It was their first time in the studio – ever. And they just hit the ground running. That's the type of project we, as older guys, love to work with. It's exciting," Romaine beamed.

While Macintosh, Romaine and the studio's  in house engineer Bob Belfiora may be the old guard, they are only looking for something from the Grand Cannons that they themselves provide – commitment, passion and talent.

"They're the type of band that you're gonna look at in a few years and say 'Hey, they did their first record here and put themselves on the map," said Romaine.
