There's no better time than right now to adopt a new best friend, and if you already have a fur buddy who happens to be in need of a rabies vaccination or microchipping you are in luck. Please read about some of the great animals available for adoption this week, then get the info on a free rabies vaccination clinic being held on June 7, 2014 sponsered by Last Hope Animal Rescue.
Additionally, if you can't adopt but (a) would love to help animals in need and (b) love jewelry, why not come to a Jewelry Sale and Flea Market supporting Last Hope Animal Rescue also being held on Sat. June 7th from 10-2pm at St. Bede's Church, 220 Berry Hill Road, Syosset 11791. Fantastic Bargains! For information, call 516-921-2008 or visit www.lasthopeanimalrescue.org. Something for everyone! All proceeds benefit Last Hope's Fix-A-Feral and foster kitten programs.
And now please allow me to introduce you to our furry friends in the spotlight this week: Jack, Kildare, Rex, and Blue Willow!
First up is Jack (pictured). Jack came to Last Hope early one morning as part of a desperate last minute rescue from a Tennessee shelter. At the time no one knew that this 2 year old Shepherd mix (with a docked tail) was also heartworm positive. He has received his first immiticide treatment and will need one more. In the meantime, this silly fellow rests and waits for his special someone at Last Hope's Dog Center in Wantagh. Jack loves to sit on people’s laps, even though he weighs 55 pounds which quite frankly I find adorable. Just ask my 60lb lab mix.
Also at Last Hope is Kildare (pictured). Kildare the sweet cat was rescued from an industrial park when he was very young, and raised in a foster home. He loves to play with cat toys, and gets along great with other cats. His dream is to find a permanent home, so please visit him to find out what a special kitty he is!
For more information about Jack and Kildare, check out Last Hope's website at http://lasthopeanimalrescue.org
Next, meet an adorable pooch named Rex (pictured). Rex is an 8 month old hound mix who arrived at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter with his two brothers who have already been adopted. Rex is described by the staff as a GREAT boy, playful, sweet, loving, and very friendly. Rex would love a forever home like his brothers have. Why not stop by and meet this little boy today?
And how about adopting a wonderful girl who just happens to love wearing rainbow bowties? Blue Willow is as sweet as they come- she adores the staff, volunteers and the other dogs at the TOH Animal Shelter and they can't help but love her back. But fear not- she has room in her heart for you so how about adopting this wonderful lady today! For more information on Rex, Blue Willow, and the other great animals at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter, please visit their website at http://toh.li/animal-shelter
On Saturday June 7th from 11am to 2pm, Last Hope Animal Rescue will be holding a free rabies vaccine clinic for dogs and cats at Babylon Town Animal Shelter, 51 Lamar St. West Babylon 11704. All Long Island pet owners are eligible; no appointment necessary, but all pets must be at least 4 months old. Dogs must be leashed, and cats need to be in carriers. Dogs must be dog & people-friendly. This rabies clinic is made possible because of grant assistance from Pet Peeves, Inc.- the voice of Long Island Pets. For more information about the free rabies vaccine clinic, contact Joanne@lasthopeanimalrescue.orgor call 631-671-2588. In addition, Babylon Shelter is offering discounted HomeAgain microchips for dogs and cats at the event. A $25 fee includes chip implantation and registration. Call 631-643-9270, for more information about the microchip offer.
As always, thanks for reading- and please remember to only shop for jewelry... not animals! :)
