A Brief Moment on

Oh, it is absolutely lovely.

I haven’t felt this sense of tranquility in our country in well, is it four, six or maybe eight years.

And it was so unexpected.

There were no forecasts; no news alerts, no warnings, no predictions.

It just seemed to happen, and America for at least a brief span of time is unified, and happy.

I entered the pub early this afternoon and it was unusually full.. There was a sense of anticipation and almost a subdued silence.

When I returned later in the day, the occupants were still talking about what had occurred.

Everyone was involved, and yes, joyous. An emotion that seemed almost contagious, and so welcome after so long a hiatus.

Dissension, disapproval, and even disinterest had disappeared not only from the internet, and TV screens, but also from everywhere people gathered. Conversations were accompanied with smiles and occasional chuckles..

Lovely is the only word that describes America today as regardless of our politics, our fears, our worries, we all stopped and for a few hours on a spring Sunday afternoon shared in the glow of Tiger Woods success.

And for the brief moment in time when everyone rejoiced with the triumphant return of a golfer, perhaps it also allowed America to remember what it was like not to be always angry.

And hope was restored again in our beloved land.

Bravo, Tiger, and thank you for what you gave America today.
