'Chills Down Your Spine': Brian Moore Hero's Run In Photos

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Hundreds of motorcycles participated in the second annual Detective Brian Moore Hero's Run on Sunday. Riders paid $30 per bike and $10 per passenger, with proceeds benefiting the Brian Moore Memorial Fund.
Moore, 25, was in an unmarked police car in Queens in May 2015 when he and his partner saw a man adjusting something in his waistband. When the officers pulled alongside the man and asked him what he was carrying, the man pulled a gun and shot Moore in the face. Moore died at a hospital two days later.
The ride began at the Belmont Park Racetrack, passing by the officer's neighborhood in Massapequa and ending at The Nutty Irishman in Farmingdale. The fund provides scholarship money for Plainedge High School students, where Moore graduated in 2007.

Mike Marra, of Melville, told Patch on Monday he, his father and a family friend participated in this year's ride. Marra, who rode his 2012 Harley Davidson Fat Boy on Sunday, said the group traveled between 30 mph and 40 mph with a full police escort blocking on- and off-ramps. People stood on overpasses taking photos and waving and the riders passed the Massapequa Fire Department, with staff standing standing and saluting.
"It gives you that sense of pride and puts chills down your spine," said Marra.
