In addition to the North Massapequa Fire Department, responding departments included Massapequa, Seaford, Bethpage, Wantagh, North Bellmore, Bellmore, South Farmingdale, Farmingdale, East Meadow, Levittown, Plainview, Syosset and Amityville. It was eventually brought under control, but the fire destroyed two engines and an ambulance belonging to the department.
