Crash Closes Lanes On Southern State Parkway

BREAKING: The rush hour crash has traffic backed up for miles.

UPDATE 5:55 p.m.: All lanes have now been reopened.

A crash on the Southern State Parkway has slowed the Monday evening commute to a crawl.

The Nassau County Traffic Management Center tweeted at 5 p.m. that a crash had blocked the right and center eastbound lanes between exits 29 and 30 in North Massapequa.

"Expect delays back to Hempstead Avenue [in Rockville Centre]," the TMC said.

At 5:06 p.m., the New York State Department of Transportation said just the right lane remains closed near the crash scene, but traffic remains backed up for more than 10 miles, according to Google Maps.
