Donations Collected Across Town Of Oyster Bay Sent Out To Texas

Supplies are still being collected across the Town of Oyster Bay.

MASSAPEQUA, NY - Town of Oyster Bay officials and members of the Massapequa Fire Department sent out supplies collected this week for the victims of Hurricane Harvey on Thursday.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Town Councilman Louis Imbroto were among those to send off trailers of relief supplies donated over the past week to Texas.

“Thousands of people are still seeking food and temporary shelter as Hurricane Harvey delivered unprecedented amounts of rain in Texas,” Saladino said. “I thank the countless number of residents who generously donated items to assist fellow Americans in need. Together, we are helping make a difference in the lives of those who desperately need it and will continue to be at the ready to help communities in the days, weeks and months ahead.”

Essential items, such as food, water and cleaning supplies were donated by residents and will be delivered to Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization, Island Harvest, to support the ongoing relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

“Our residents know first-hand the devastating impact Mother Nature can deliver,” Imbroto said. “Together with Island Harvest, we are helping the victims of Hurricane Harvey in rebuilding lives. I thank all the residents who opened their hearts and their wallets to donate for this worthy cause.”

Donations of nonperishable, ready-to-eat food items, cleaning supplies and toiletries such as personal hygiene items like deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste are still being collected throughout the town. No clothing items will be accepted.

Residents can continue to drop-off relief items at the following locations, during normal business hours:

  • Oyster Bay Town Hall North on 54 Audrey Avenue in Oyster Bay
  • Oyster Bay Town Hall South on 977 Hicksville Road in Massapequa
  • Town of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center on 167 S. Broadway in Hicksville
  • Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center on 1001 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage
  • Massapequa Park Village Hall on 151 Front Street in Massapequa Park
  • Home Depot on 111 Jericho Turnpike in Syosset
  • Homes by Mara on 30 Berry Hill Road in Syosset

Items can also be dropped off at the following Housing Authority locations:

  • 201 Oakley Avenue in Massapequa
  • 50 Hicksville Road in Plainedge
  • 115 Central Park Road in Plainview
  • 40 Eastwoods/ Muttontown Road in Syosset
  • 355 Newbridge Road in Hicksville
  • 125 West Main Street in Oyster Bay
  • 7 Burkhardt Avenue in Bethpage

In addition, the Town will also collect donations at the Waterfront Festival and Bluefish Tournament at Theodore Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay on Sept. 10 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“Our community remains grateful for all the help the nation gave us after Superstorm Sandy, and this is our small way of giving back and helping the great people of Texas that are victims of this tragic event,” Massapequa Park Mayor Jeffrey Pravato, who assisted the Town with this collection drive, said.
