The hot temperatures expected Thursday has caused the Town of Oyster Bay to cancel activities in the area.
The Town will not hold activities at parks, athletic fields, tennis, handball and basketball courts from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In addition, hours have been extended at all community park pools, keeping them open until 10 p.m.

The town has opened a cooling center at the William P. Bennett Community Center located at 29 W. Carl Street in Hicksville through Saturday. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
