I’m Finding

It Difficult

I’ve tried desperately to be careful, but I’m no longer confident if I will succeed..

Despite vigorous attempts made to balance a daily diet with a precise combo of carbs, fat, protein and of course, ample water, I find it virtually impossible to avoid some of the daily pitfalls sabotaging my regime.

A typical morning may begin with a relatively healthy breakfast; two eggs, several slices of an organic banana, along with freshly ground (obviously from organic beans) black coffee. All, of course, preceded by two glasses of chilled filtered water.

Sounds good? Yes, it is.

But midway between the sips of excellent strong black coffee (also sugar free,) and the nutritious protein provided by perfectly cooked eggs, several minutes of acid from the Commentators on national TV are quickly admitted into my sphere of consciousness. The virus of negativity quickly wipes any anticipated bliss from the coffee as well as vital nutrition from the free range poached eggs because as we now know, stress is neither a good nor healthy thing.

Proceeding then onward to a planned period of meditation which sadly, also has a plus/minus factor. Reflection is obviously considered a healthy activity, but only if not too much time is spent sitting while contemplating., It was suggested in one of today’s medical alerts, that washing dishes might alleviate that problem. Well, possibly for others, but washing dishes or washing anything anything has never contributed to any level of my spiritual reflection.. Unfortunately, physical labor only causes me to ponder about how soon the task will be finished.

So herein is my dilemma; is it preferable to meditate while inactive, or dispense with meditation and clean the kitchen.. I admit my inclination leads far more toward the joys of contemplation. However, I am aware that I must pursue this relatively difficult agenda in order to maintain a healthy life. Perhaps if I had been more cognizant of the ever changing rules and regulations as they were being promoted, I would be more adept in achieving success now.

Since we cannot know what tomorrow’s medical update will bring, this morning I intend to enjoy my coffee, and possibly even indulge in a second steaming cup while I linger on the memorable words of Thomas Merton.

Because I’ve already relinquished sitting in the sun, and bacon has become only a fond memory, I doubt that another 45 minutes off my prescribed routine will be dreadfully destructive.

I’m willing to take a chance.
