I Remember

Yesterday

Was it yesterday...................

When I worried about not being invited to a wedding

Or was it the day before

When I was angry because I was kept waiting for an Uber

Maybe it was last week

When I worried about old age

Perhaps it was last night

When I fantasized about joining the Madonna Heights Ladies on their trip to Peru

Or was it this morning

When I was angry because I spilled coffee on my white blouse

I think it was last Tuesday

When my sister in law annoyed me

Or maybe it was the day before

When I splashed mud on my new shoes

Of course, since then I learned none of it matters

No longer do any moments of self righteous indignation, selfish irritation or social unease have any validity in our new reality.

As grim mortality forecasts rapidly accelerate, and frightening statistics and nervous commentators seem to escalate without interruption, much of what was once valued disappears into a nebulous tomorrow.

My yesterdays were disguised in a garment of triviality. The disguise was unrecognized until it was ripped away by the cold unfeeling blamket of a virus named Corvid-19.

Will our yesterdays be resurrected or have they already disappeared into the quicksand of nostalgia?
