Is It Just

Us?

Silence is golden, but sometimes it isn’t.

I wonder why it is so utterly deafening this week.

There seem to be only two voices who spoke out publicly against the travesty called a Gala which was held at the Met on Monday, May 7th.

Piers Morgan and I are definitely a strange couple since we have never met nor undoubtedly, ever will.

The only thing we share in common is our religion, Catholicism, and our shared righteous indignation at what occurred on Monday evening.

Piers words are far more eloquent than mine, but our outrage is identical.

The thing that mystifies me is the total lack of indignation regarding this event. Pictures are plastered all over the internet, the print newspapers have published glowing descriptions of the irreverent costumes of so called celebrities and wannabes. And only Piers and I are upset?

Today’s media world is full of both vocal and strident outrage at anything even vaguely politically incorrect. Often deservedly so, but when the religion revered and loved by 70,412,021 Catholics in the U.S. is held up to ridicule, the silence is deafening.

The esteemed Cardinal of NYC loaned Rihanna a Miter for the event? And none of his loyal Parishioners find that a bit, shall I say unusual?

Or perhaps Piers and I are a bit too rigid? Maybe not if you saw the internet pictures of Rihanna wearing what most of us considered a sacred liturgical garment. Or the Immaculate Conception theme of the garment worn by another guest.

Another thing, Mr. Morgan and I have in common. Neither of us claim to be viable candidates for the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice honor. The two of us are just two voices raised in wrath and horror at the ridicule that took place during the month of May in NYC.

We are a strange couple, aren’t we?
