Just A Good

Life teaches us lessons in unexpected moments.

In recent months, as a nation we have been brought to our knees. We are bloody and bowed with political turmoil, accusations, intrigues and lurid headlines

Our news has been consumed with more political friction than most of us can ever recall and political divisions have consumed our attention on a daily basis. Friends have stopped discussing current headlines in order to preserve friendships.

Yesterday for a brief span of time the divisiveness subsided when a good woman went home to the Lord

A woman who never held a job

A woman who was never elected to public office

A woman who was never considered an icon

A woman who never had a pop record

A woman who only had one marriage

A woman who never published a tell all

A woman who loved only one man

A woman who never anticipated the life her God had planned

A woman who was lonely often yet in her final public moment reminded America that you do not have to look for recognition with press agent blurbs or shocking semi-nude photos posted on the internet

A woman who never apologized for her hair or her weight or the wrinkles time granted her

A woman who lived with dignity

A ;woman who probably never anticipated being an amazing example for an entire country especially in preparation for death and her final public goodbye

Yet her simple funeral strongly reminded a country that is weary of accusations; saddened by endless internal strife, that a public life can be lived with honor, loyalty, dignity and most importantly, belief in eternal life and the existence of a Divine Father.

This was a woman who in her final public appearance, reminded a divided country that we remain a Nation Under God and will continue to do so despite what our political future may bring.
